Privacy & Information Security

The Privacy and Information Security Management team’s primary objective is to provide the UBC community with services to help identify and manage key privacy and information security risks. These risks are typically related to the collection, use, storage, disclosure, and disposition of Personal Information (paper-based and electronic).

“Personal Information is recorded information about an identifiable individual other than contact information (full details can be found on the University Counsel website).”

Ultimately, RMS helps units to comply with UBC’s Privacy and Paper Security Fact Sheets and Information Security Standards, to enable the University to holistically meet its Freedom of Information & Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) obligations regarding the requirement to have reasonable security measures in place over Personal Information.
